Being in the business of lending and borrowing, we have a soft spot for libraries and find it sad to see that around the UK, libraries are suffering from potential closures due to financial cuts.
So we put our thinking caps on and came up with some interesting ways that libraries can use Ecomodo to bring new services to their community and fundraise too.
Use Ecomodo to fundraise for your library ..
Good causes on Ecomodo can be any type of not-for-profit group, including libraries! Ecomodo is an effortless and everyday way for supporters of local libraries to fundraise, simply by lending out their own everyday objects, skills or spaces to each other.
If you work for a library, simply register your library a good cause on Ecomodo and encourage your community to start lending their stuff and choose to donate their earnings to your good cause.
It's FREE to register as a good cause and only takes a minute - all you'll need is a Paypal account for us to send any donations to.
Get your staff and volunteers to add some of their own items to lend as this will inspire others to join in. And of course if there are any items your library is happy to lend to it's wider community then add those too. For example, lend a room in the evening to help another local group hold their meetings, or an energy monitor.

Become a 'sharing hub' ..
Help facilitate local lending and borrowing in your neighbourhood by providing a small secure space at your library, where in lenders can arrange to drop an item off for a borrower to pick it up and visa versa.
Having an alternative venue as drop off and pick up point can be much more convenient than travelling to someone's house or having to stay home to lend their stuff out. It's a great way to be a good neighbour and bring people to your library and increase your footfall.

Here's four simple steps to start to get your community sharing and raising money for your library.

Sign up to Ecomodo for FREE. Once registered, you'll be able to add items to lend, create lending circles and invite others to join.
- Create a lending circle
Create a lending circle for your library and register as a good cause. Once your circle is set up you can add an icon, description, URL and choose to promote your good cause to fundraise for.
- Add items to lend
Adding items to lend is the best way to inspire others to join in, so ask your staff and volunteers to add some stuff to lend and donate their proceeds to your cause. Also consider is there is any spare equipment, space and skills your library is happy to lend. Browse items to borrow to see what other's are lending or get inspired
- Promote ecomodo to your community
Simply, invite people through our site and add a link or RSS feed on your website. Tell people through a newsletter or email and use our in-built leaflet and poster maker. Pop posters up around your library and neighbouhood and pop a leaflet into every book you lend.
